CELEBRATION

The co·lab CELEBRATION program was established to provide support for community events in West Valley City. Events should illustrate how they provide significant community and cultural contributions to the community that, due to their nature and scope, are unable to generate the needed revenue to cover costs. West Valley City is not only Utah’s second largest community, it is also Utah’s most culturally diverse community. Co·lab CELEBRATION is an opportunity for community groups to come together to learn, experience, & celebrate arts, culture, & community.

  • May 1, 2025: Applications due by 11:00 pm

  • June 1, 2025: Recipients Announced

  • Post-Event Evaluation forms are due within 60 days after each co·lab celebration event

    • Space is limited – therefore, this is a competitive application process. Free community events will be prioritized in the overall venue scheduling process.

    • Priority is given to events that support local West Valley City programs and have direct impact and connection to West Valley City residents.

    • Applications that were awarded in the past are not guaranteed each year.

    • This program is for one-time events held during the year.

    • An organization can submit applications for multiple events.

    • Events must take place at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center.

    • Organizations/applicants can be based outside of West Valley City.

    • Fundraisers, conferences, galas as well as private events, are typically not eligible for the co·lab CELEBRATION program. Please refer to the traditional rental application process for the Utah Cultural Celebration Center.

    • If an event applicant, event organizer or event itself has a history of sustained complaints from previous years from residents, event vendors and City staff, the event may not be eligible for the program.

    • Applicants agree to use a City provided logo on marketing materials, website, and at the event.

    • Applicants will work with staff to determine appropriate recognition of their event on the Utah Cultural Celebration Center social media accounts and website.

    • Ultimately the awarding is up to the discretion of the City Manager.

    • Successful applications will clearly outline (not listed in order of importance):

      • Financial need for City support.

      • Primary audience or demographic served. Applicants should describe any strategies for increasing audience diversity, providing resources to at-risk communities, or building community capacity.

      • Goals of the event and their community impact.

      • Economic impact.

      • Estimate the number of attendees expected at the event, the number of attendees for last year’s event (if applicable), as well as number of vendors.

      • Relation to City’s goals and vision – such as:

        • Promoting diversity and cultural identity

        • Promoting overall City economic development

        • Supporting art opportunities for all communities

        • Supporting local economies

        • Wellness of City residents

        • Creating opportunity in all neighborhoods

        • Promoting neighborhood and community unity

        • Education opportunities for young people here

    • Events are required to be as detailed as possible with the space needed at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. A detailed map of the venue is included in this packet. If there are questions about the venue and space requirements, please reach out to the UCCC sales team.

    • As a reminder, applications are for the space only. Successful applicants are responsible for all AV, Tech, Linens, and Catering fees.

    • Applicants should have a preferred date, time, and location for their event. Applicants should also include 3 alternate dates.

    • Please note, all application entries must be submitted online. If an applicant is unable to make an online submission, needs an accommodation, or would like to apply in another language (other than English), please call 801-965-5090 or email wvccelebrates@wvc-ut.gov. We can assist you in applying in-person.

  • The co·lab CELEBRATION selection committee is comprised of seven City staff from multiple offices and will be determined by the West Valley City Manager’s Office.

    • If there are any major changes to the event, you must notify the UCCC immediately. Selection is solely based on the event outlined in the application.

    • Recipients are required to complete the Event Information Form, outlining the finalized details of their event, in order to receive a final contract.

    • Recipients will be required to turn in a Post-Event Evaluation within 60 days after their event. Failure to complete the Post-Event Evaluation may disqualify you from future opportunities.

    • Depending on the event’s sponsorship benefits, West Valley City requests the opportunity to have a booth or table at the event. Please keep the UCCC up to date on exhibitor guidelines, details, and event dates.

    • If your event is cancelled, the application is not transferrable to another year.
